A New Beginning
So here it is. The beginning. My first blog post! But where do you start? What do you write?
I want to write a blog and I want it to be relevant and I want it to be original. But can you really write an original blog, with so many graphic design blogs and web design blogs out there it must have all been said before. So it comes down to my ideas, but are my ideas really new or do they come from something I’ve already read or seen? Are they MY ideas?
Come to think of it I actually did read a songwriter’s blog the other day on this very subject. I guess the same can be said when designing a new brochure, developing a website or creating a logo. We all get our inspiration from somewhere…don’t we?
So as long as we can take those ideas as a base and use them as a catalyst to create something different. A bit like when you cut out a pattern or part of a photograph and paint a new picture from the shapes and colours. You have a starting point but the finished product is something new.
It would be interesting to know what you think.
So I want to use this blog to write my thoughts and if that comes from something I’ve read than that’s ok, I can have my opinion on it. Mostly I will write from the graphic design point of view but I’m sure if I can link that in to my other interests of football and music then I’m sure I’ll will find a way.
I hope you like my blog and you come back again…

In the design world (as with music) there are imitators everywhere. I think taking ideas and making them your own is acceptable, but when do you cross the line and become a ‘creative’ thief!? Here’s a site I found that catches these people out! http://www.youthoughtwewouldntnotice.com/
Great blog! Look forward to more posts!
Thanks Ryan.
Nice link. I guess with all the free or low cost vectors and photos available now there’s bound to be some similar designs, but there are some good example of how not to do it.
Thanks for being the first to comment.
