Do Good Design:  How Design Can Change Our World: How Visual Communicators Can Save the World
by David B. Berman

“With great power; comes great responsibilty” – Spiderman

The influence that designers have is everywhere, they have an affect on what we see, what we use and what we experience. Ths book is a call to action to a more sustainable approach in both the practice and the consumption of design.

The is a slimline book (printed on Spring Forge PCW-30 D56 540 ppi paper, using soy based inks and the page imposition has been optimised to reduce waste), written in a friendly manner which makes it a quick enjoyable read, yet inspires you to think differently about your role as a designer and how you decide to move forward at a time of great global change; environmentally, socially and economically. As the title suggests (with the defaced front cover – Do Good Design) this is about how we as designers can hold onto our principles to create ethical design with out compromising on the quality.

The book showcases the work of other designers, many from well known brands to highlight the power of design including the good, the bad and the ugly. Berman documents how design was used to choose a president, how Western consumerism has had an impacted on culture and the environment and why people buy things they can’t afford.

This book is for everyone, we are all designers in the global design project.

Don’t just do good design, do good. Take the Do Good Pledge
